  • IT’S A FIRST! BOOK INDIVIDUAL ROOMS IN AUGUST

    09th June 2016

To celebrate our first anniversary we are opening the castle doors for individuals to stay in August… and… as a happy coincidence it coincides with the Edinburgh Festival.

Fact… Edinburgh is busy in August and accommodation is hard to find – 1 festival (5 to 26 August), 7 double rooms, 1 suite with 2 bedrooms, 24 days availability. Technically we can rest 384 sleepy festival going heads – in luxury and in a castle – from £295 per double room throughout August!

Whether you lean towards the avant-garde or mainstream, the classics or quite frankly the outrageous you are invited to stay with us. Rooms and Suites… from £295 per night inclusive of Scottish Breakfast and VAT.

Email us and quote ‘FRINGE’ to reserve your room in the castle between 1 and 31 August 2016.

  • OUR NEW BAR

    08th June 2016

The castle has a brand new glamorous bar that was installed for Andrew’s 40th birthday party (he owns the castle) which was a great success. In fact a little too much of a success! But, we didn’t say that.  The addition of the bar ensures that guests experience the ‘exclusively’ intimate atmosphere of a private members club when they stay, or join us as part of a larger group. Ideal to gather for a pre, and post, event drink or two!!

  • UP FOR AN AWARD

    29th October 2015

As you all know Carlowrie Castle opened to the public in May 2015 and since then we have been over whelmed by the support and feedback we have received.  It has been such a big year for us and not only that we were nominated for an award ‘Scotland’s Smallest Venue.’  This Drum Scottish Event Awards is an annual award scheme providing the Scottish event industry a fantastic platform to demonstrate their talent and skills.   Although we did not win the award we feel honoured to have been the runner up in 2nd place and we celebrated in true Carlowrie Style at the Grand Central Hotel with our magical team of caterers by our side, Wilde Thyme.

  • Fun all round with Maximillion

    26th August 2015

Kilts, cocktails and canapes was the order of the day with our recent corporate fun day. Maximillion organised a fantastic fun day for a corporate client which got everyone competing in ‘clans’ on segways (pictured), quads and Highland games. The activities then culminated in a giant tug of war.

After all their hard work, our guests were rewarded with a relaxed BBQ and drinks in the sunshine, while they played giant games on our events lawn.

If you would like to arrange a corporate day with us, please email Angie Alexander, our Business Development Director, for more details.

  • High fashion with the Glasgow Herald

    11th June 2015

Bold spots and stripes was the order of the day with Eva Arrighi, Fashion Editor at the Glasgow Herald’s latest shoot at Carlowrie.

The team had a stunning array of the latest dresses and accessories for the summer season, all beautifully, but boldly combined, as in this feature shot.

Ewa Kepys was the model from Model Team, photography by Julie Howden and hair and make up by Ainslie Currie.

If you would like to book the Castle for a shoot, please contact Angie Alexander, our Business Development Director.

  • Pop up restaurant at Carlowrie

    09th June 2015

Our first pop up restaurant at the Castle was a glittering success. We transformed our Orangery into a beautiful dining space, thanks to Wilde Thyme and Zenith Events and we welcomed lots of friends to Carlowrie, including many of our brides to be.

Guests were served a glass of fizz and some delicious canapes at their tables, while our Head of Catering, Andrew Hamer, talked through his 4 course menu for the evening.

With the sound of music filling the room from our baby grand piano, diners were treated to delectable dishes like new season’s asparagus veloute with a parmesan crisp and a delicious take on Eton Mess, accompanied by a decadent chocolate fondant.

The evening was rounded off with coffee and home made petit fours and guests took their time to enjoy the Castle and have a walk in our gardens.

  • Stunning fashion shoot with the Herald Magazine

    14th May 2015

We recently hosted a fashion shoot with Eva Arrighi, the Fashion Editor of the Glasgow Herald at the Castle. The shoot showcased some stunning outfits perfect for any special occasion in beautiful pastels – certainly plenty of inspiration for our summer wedding guests at Carlowrie!

The team on the day were amazing and managed a huge amount of dress and style changes seamlessly – watch this space for further news of another fashion story in our Orangery…

If you would like to consider using the Castle for a photo shoot, please get in touch with Angie, our Business Development Director to discuss your requirements.

  • Our first charity Ball for RESTART

    31st March 2015

On the 14th March we hosted RESTART’s inaugural Ball at the Castle. This special event was attended by over 400 people and was hosted by Rory Bremner.

It was a wonderful night with live entertainment from the Dunwells and fine dining from Andrew Hamer and his award winning team from Wilde Thyme.

Through support of the event and the generosity of our guests on the night, RESTART managed to raise over £40,000 for the charity. This equates to over 25% of RESTART’s current annual running costs for work in Edinburgh and London, which is fantastic.

Next year’s ball will be on Saturday 26th March 2016. For further information please email events@restartlives.org

Carlowrie Castle operates as a social enterprise and year end profits are donated to RESTART.

  • How big can we go?

    20th February 2015

We are in the midst of planning for a Charity Ball for 400 guests in March of this year. We like challenges like this and we are sure it will not be long until we are doing even bigger events. Our ethos is very much about creating bespoke events. We will work with to make your vision a reality, no matter how big or small the event.

The Charity Ball is in aid of RESTART, a charity that offers safe spaces for the homeless, the long term unemployed and the lonely to restart life through education, housing, employability programmes and emergency aid. The event promises to be an exceptional night of entertainment and music with some of Scotland’s finest dining delivered by Andrew Hamer and his award winning team from Wild Thyme.
