UK Wedding Awards – Best Castle Venue

Isobel Inspired

Andrew our CEO likes a challenge and committed himself to walk up Mount Kilimanjaro on the Machame route recently. He took on this feat after being inspired and encouraged by Isobel (Wylie Hutchison) and her incredible treks and expeditions.

Andrew took two items from our Isobel Wylie Hutchison Collection on his journey to the summit; our hand knitted, plant hand-dyed Carlowrie Jersey and our Hutchison Haversack made from Harris Tweed, the same kind of Harris Tweed Isobel used to wear.

This is Andrew’s first mountain expedition but we are pretty sure it won’t be his last.

Christmas Stocking Filler – Carlowrie style

After a very busy summer with private events and weddings we’re back and looking forward to the Festive season, particularly as we’ve created an incredible stocking filler for our friends and followers.

Our Couples Luxury Getaway is happening on Saturday January 11th 2020, we’re opening our doors to past, present and future couples who would love to experience a night of  Carlowrie magic.

We’re including champagne, a mouthwatering 5 course tasting menu with wine accompaniment and an overnight with breakfast in one of our luxury guest rooms.

So often we get asked by our couples if they can spend a night in the Castle, we’ve listened to you and created this fabulous overnight experience, the perfect stocking filler to surprise your beloved with on Christmas morning.

Tis the season for Highland Games

Highland Games at Carlowrie are a hoot!

With 32 acres of land we have an abundance of green space to host Highland Games and outdoor activities.

Test your strength in a Tug-o-War or axe-throwing (don’t worry it’s fully supervised) as well as the hilarious  “welly throw”. For those real Highlanders among us the Caber Toss is the absolute test of endurance. There’s no better way to finish off the Games than a delicious BBQ and a cold tipple of your choice. So the question is .. are you up for the challenge?

Introducing the Carlowrie Marquee

We’re super proud of our stunning new permanent Marquee, it’s a real game changer for Carlowrie. We can now host Gala Dinners for 300 – 600 guests and Drinks Receptions for 600 – 1000 guests, and of course it’s a fabulous new addition for our wedding couples. The glass frontage fills the Marquee perfectly with lots of natural daylight, at the same time overlooking the lawn, the Orangery and the Castle. The style and design reflects the Carlowrie brand; sleek, modern and luxurious.

Carlowrie Cuisine – Simply the Best

Our Chef and creator of all things delicious Iain MacDonald grew up in the foothills of the Highlands surrounded by the finest of our country’s larder.  He’s a firm believer that we have the best ingredients available on our doorstep and his menus are inspired by seasonal and local products. His focus, style and attention to detail make the culinary experience at Carlowrie simply the best.

Forth One Super Heroes visit Carlowrie

We had a fly-ing visit from Super Heroes Boogie, Arlene and Marty from Forth One Radio. Each year they work tirelessly to raise funds for “Cash for Kids”, an incredible charity that supports disadvantaged children in our communities so they can live life to the full.  We donated a night in our lovely Gate House Lodge for up to 10 guests and we look forward to welcoming the lucky winner soon.

We’ve been producing Honey at Carlowrie for the past 40 years in a variety of hives within the Estate. “Bee” sure to lookout for them if you’re out for a stroll in the fields behind the Castle.

Flying high at Carlowrie

Falconry in our walled garden is just one of the unique experiences we offer guests.  Get up close and personal with Hawks, Owls, Falcons, Kites and Eagles. Under our instructors watchful eye guests can handle and feed these incredible birds and enjoy a leisurely walk through the Estate as they fly high above.

Our 32 acre estate and stunning gardens are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, and don’t forget to make time afterwards for a mouthwatering afternoon tea in our delightful Piano Lounge or Orangery.
